Japanese Actors and Actresses: HIMITSU no Hanazono Cast (2)

HIMITSU no Hanazono

Shaku Yumiko as Tsukiyama Kayo
(d-wiki; jdorama)
I first saw her in Kiken na Aneki, when I wasn’t so into dramas yet. I didn’t really like the show, but I thought she did a good job in it. At the time, she was the first Japanese actress in which I thought, “OMG! She is sooooo pretty,” about. After I Kiken na Aneki, I saw her in Stand! Up where she played Mochizuki-sensei, whom Shohei had a big crush on. I don’t think her acting in it was very good, probably because I didn’t really like her character. Now that I’ve seen more shows, I can say that she looks slightly above average, but not extremely outstanding. Though, in this show she is absolutely radiant. In Kiken na Aneki she had a really elegant and beautiful aura about her, however in HIMITSU no Hanazono, she is less rigidly perfect and is more flexibly childish. Her acting is alright, not 100% perfection, but actually good enough for enjoyment. I think she pulled off Kayo really well. Very nicely done. I really look forward to seeing her in more leading roles. I applaud.

Sakai Masato as Kataoka Wataru
(d-wiki; jdorama)
I first saw him in Engine with Koyuki and Kimura Takuya. Honestly, I don’t think he is the greatest actor on Earth, but I think he did fairly well in HIMITSU no Hanazono, though he is no where near as suited for his role as the other main casts (*cough* Hongo Kanata *cough*). After seeing him in Engine, I saw him as Hanamoto-sensei in HACHIMITSU to CLOVER, the movie starring Sakurai Sho (ARASHI!!) and Aoi Yuu. I didn’t really think he did that well in that movie either. Seeing him in HIMITSU no Hanazono though, really made me think otherwise, though this is probably due to the fact that the character he plays is more understanding and compassionate. Also, when you watch him act, you can feel that his eyes are telling you something. You can feel it, but you just can’t put it to words. You’ve gotta watch his eyes when he acts, they are almost ethereal. Extremely nostalgic.

Ikeda Tetsuhiro as Kataoka Osamu
(d-wiki; jdorama)
Here’s someone I’ve never heard of nor seen. Reading d-wiki though, I’ve found that he was in HACHIMITSU to CLOVER and NANA. Which totally struck me, because I don’t remember seeing him at all. Going to imdb.com, he is credited as “Designer” for HACHIMITSU to CLOVER. It made me chuckle; I guess that’s why I didn’t notice him. The character he plays in HIMITSU no Hanazono is slightly out-of-whack. He’s aloof and very easily excited about things, especially the personal life of his brothers (*cough* Wataru *cough*). Anyway, I won’t waste my time, the next one is the hunk of the century.

Kaname Jun as Kataoka Satoshi
(d-wiki; jdorama)
I’ve heard of the name of Kaname Jun quite a few times, just didn’t really know who he was. Now that I’ve seen him acting, I can honestly say that his name deserves to be repeated — he is such a hottie! I’m not even putting that lightly. Even though he is not in Johnny’s, he is still extremely good-looking and superbly talented as an actor. I love his hair in this show, it suits him so well. Kyaaa~ A very good actor, very smooth, very comfortable, and very surprising.

Hongo Kanata as Kataoka Hinata
(d-wiki; jdorama)
Before it was Yamada Takayuki, now it’s Hongo Kanata, the boy of every Japanese girl’s dreams. He is so cute. So cute. Really, even if he doesn’t smile, he still looks cute. It’s really hard not to like him because of his appearance and ability to pull off the evil young genius look, often with a dash of emo-ness. But I digress. I first saw him in HINOKIO with Tabe Mikako, and I immediately realized how much potential he has. Later, I found out that he would replace Matsuyama KENICHI for the role of Shin. I was really excited, because I was really interested in him and it’s just so awesome that he got to play Shin. Though, I think that if he was older, he would have no problem pulling off Raito or L. Heh. They’ve both got their share of emo-ness. Hongo Kanata has a bright future ahead of him, as long as he plays some more brighter roles in time.

Other notable supporting characters in HIMITSU no Hanazono include Maya Miki (d-wiki; jdorama) and Terajima Susumu (d-wiki; jdorama).
