The pictures are there, the line breaks are there. In Wordpress, the "index", "post", "category", and "archive" pages can all show posts in different formats. With the current theme that you are using, the index is showing a "summary" while the "post" page shows the whole thing. For another example, go to my blog and click on any category, you will see a listing with only the title and date.
